Let's pretend for a minute that your daily driver shit the bed. You got $3000 to replace it. What can you find on your local CL? I found this- !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and I know you can do better. But wait, there's incentive! I will send the winners of each category a small die cast from my personal collection. You have until 1/27/14 at 7:30pm to find an entry, we will vote tomorrow night Categories are: Most Jalop (prize is a HW '53 Caddy-camino), Weirdest (Prize is a MB '85 Kadett GSi "World cup '98" security car) Best former police car (prize is an '89 HW "Auto-City Police" car), best wagon (a johnny lightning '74 or '75 caprice wagon), Coolest (HW Holden Commodore VT race car), and finally Ben's Choice, you get picked by me and you get my most prized die cast, a Johhny Lightning '95 Honda Accord, finished in electric blue with "euro style" head and tail lights, yellow wheels, and blue interior. Will post pics of the prizes later, in the meantime, happy hunting!

1977 Ford Pinto Cruising Wagon, $3000. Comes with a ton of spare parts like headers and an Offy intake.
Non-running runner ups are a 1987 Kia Besta for $5 ( link for the inevitable "WTF is a Kia Besta?" ), a 1958 Willys Jeep Station Wagon for $2000 and a 1957 Fargo Town Panel for $1200. I'm guessing that the Willys and Fargo are from the same seller.

I'm going to disqualify myself ahead of time, as I'm not going to ask you to send a diecast all the way to the UK, and in any case, we have a very different used car market, so it's hard to compare. BUT, I'm still going to submit something, because 'Hunt the best car for the budget' is one of my favourite games! To avoid abusing my Euro-ness too much, I'm excluding myself from the 'wagon' category.
...
Okay, here it is:
1998 Peugeot 406 Coupe 3.0 V6 SE, in silver.
It's done 65,000 miles, costs £1375/$2270, and comes with a full service history. Red leather interior trim, styling by Pininfarina, decent if not mindblowing performance - 0-60 in 7.9, top speed of 149 - and eighties/nineties Peugeot handling. Provided you don't need too much space for luggage, or the versatility of a hatchback, it is essentially the perfect daily driver. There is no better way to travel about in style and comfort for the money.
(EDIT: When I go back to look at an article's comment section, I can never seen mine, even in the grey. I'm slightly worried that they're not showing up.)

Sorry to piggyback on this thread, but would you mind checking something for me? My non-reply comments don't seem to be showing up on articles, even in the grey, when I go back to check them afterward. Could you let me know if you can see any from me on this article? There ought to be two, both about a Peugeot 406 Coupe.
